Simulation-Based Learning in Higher Education: Advancing Research on Process Diagnostics and Personalised Interventions
SHARP investigates how personalised simulations can improve teaching and learning in higher education. The focus lies on medical education and teacher education — two fields in which diagnostic and intervention skills are particularly important.
Researchers from psychology, educational science, and subject-specific education in medicine, biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and physics collaborate across 18 subprojects. In predominantly experimental studies, they investigate the conditions, mechanisms, and effects of personalised simulations. In addition, there is a meta-project dedicated to theory development as well as two subprojects focused on technical infrastructure and coordination.
Participating Research Institutions
SHARP is the first Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) in the field of educational research in Germany. It brings together researchers from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the University of Augsburg, and the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ).
